The Nexus School

Philosophy

Our philosophy is that the development of social skills not only enhances receptive and expressive language, it also decreases anxiety and leads children to increase their desires and abilities to participate in the world around them.  Academics and skill instruction are conducted within a socialization framework with special attention focused on expanding student interactions and teachable moments.  This is achieved through the integration of RDI (Relationship Development Intervention),  Verbal Behavior, sensory integration, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy.

The success of each child’s development is dependent upon the dedication of teachers and parents working together.  To ensure this, regular communication is established to synchronize efforts, expectations, and jointly facilitate the transfer of skills from school to home and community.
